In this case study, we will take a closer look at a recent project we completed for a customer who was in need of some serious landscaping upgrades to their outdoor living space.

We started by extending the length of the steps to achieve a safer and more visually appealing 7" trend, as opposed to the previous 10" trend which was not up to code. By creating two sleeper planters, we were able to add four additional steps with a 6m width, ensuring that the new steps were both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

We have already done works prior to the steps for this customer, which was building a new Millboard decking area and sleeper wall.

Landscaping Case Study.

To make this happen we made 2 sleeper planters which would create 4 more steps which were 6m width.

We began from the bottom with concrete footing with heavy gage metal mesh and fibreglass with the concrete for strength and stability and to help with the shrinkage.

We made sure we buried half a block on every step underneath to help on movement.

After we built all the steps, we primed all the concrete, blocks and used a tile adhesive to secure all the porcelain tiles to the steps making sure it’s all covered. We added a water drip to the end of the steps so waters don’t fall back behind the raisers and finished with external fugabella grout.

We created a new patio near the koi pond , and replaced the sleepers which were rotten. Used timber to re fix the stainless steel and glass handrail for security.
